below is their reply very helpful if we did go out that way for a weekend!!!

Hi Scott

We have a room (deluxe queen) that has a queen bed plus a double sized sofa bed (with inner spring mattress). It is a disabled room, although not up to the latest specs. It has a toilet with a raised pan and bars around it, and a hobless shower with removable hosed showerhead and bars as well. The entrance door is not widened and there is a small (90mm) step in to the room. Otherwise it should be plain sailing. I am not familiar with the companion card, however rest assured we will look after that side of things should you wish to stay. Off the top of my head, in a group context, your carer would not incur any extra charges and we can throw his meals in as well.
Our restaurant has a disabled bathroom as well with bars and plenty of space for a wheelchair beside the pan.

Cheers
Andy Wright

Subject: disabled access

You can read about me here in my clubs website I helped start originally and you can read about and see me here http://www.hunterdog.org.au/AboutUs.htm in the 6th paragraph here in the clubs history and then a bit more here in what the clubs started and done for me http://www.hunterdog.org.au/FRIENDS.htm  and with me being disabled in a wheelchair that I’m nearly out of I need a room that’s wheelchair accessible and the bathroom needs a shower with commode access and I will bring my own commode if we do the run that’s being discussed in our  forum now and I’m now under 24/7 care and my support worker would need to be in a bed in the same room or a connected room for fast access if they need to help me out from rolling out of bed etc. which brings me to my second question if I could come along following the group in my van do you guys also accept the companion card to cover my support workers costs? http://www.companioncard.gov.au/

I received the following invite from the hotel. Whilst I am yet to personally have the experience, many others have spoken highly of their stay in this hotel. If we plan a weekend away that incorporates a stop-over here you'll hear about it of course. In the mean time you may care to make a plan of your own that includes stopping here.

Dear Events Secretary

Are you looking for a club run venue? Here at the Walcha Motel we have 10 years experience specialising in groups from 16 to 45 people.

Located at the southern end of the beautiful New England district of NSW we are handy to some spectacular scenery and some excellent driving & riding roads. About 5 1/2 hours north of Sydney.

We can do group rates for accommodation plus dinner & breakfast in our licensed restaurant.

If you think we may be a suitable venue for your future club run please call us to chat about your requirements.

Kind Regards

Sue & Andy Wright
