Why Do You Need To Change Your Fuel Filter? Check This out!!!


When getting the ST4S ready for the fantastic Tintaldra TTT ride I changed the fuel filter. The bike had been running just fine - no problems with revs / whatever. It had 43,000km on it and had clearly been serviced so presumably this filter had not seen 20,000km. I did find a fair bit of water rolling around in the bottom of the tank (like 3 cupfulls) but never had running issues so I guess an occasional slug of water being injected isn't much of an issue. The bike's compression & leak-down were excellent.

But, just for the fun of it, I hacksawed the lid off the filter and this is what I found inside, bizarre huh and clear evidence not to skimp on fuel filters:
