Some excerpts of an email chat we have had, always nice to get a welcoming approach! The tavern doesn't normally open until 11am which they are obviously happy to change if we can organise ourselves. I am suspecting that won't happen so have updated the calendar to reflect it, see http://hunterdog.org.au/Calendar/view_entry.php?id=306&date=20110821&user=__public__ However, if people want to give me a note to say they will definitely be there and would appreciate an earlier opening then please do. All Paul has to do then is check out the window for rain or sunshine on the day and he'll know if we'll be there....!

I have looked at your calendar for August and see that on Sunday 21/8/11, you'll be coming to visit us at the Cockfighter Creek Tavern, Bulga. That's great, look forward to seeing you. Do you have an idea of what time do you think will be getting here on the day?

Cheers,
Paul Burgess

what is advertised is a direct ride which means about 10:30 ish, expecting this will lead to more participants. Of course from morning tea at your place some could easily decide to do a lap to the half way house and come back for lunch, who knows. What also actually happens is that a discussion is had by “those present” and the route etc is changed if people want to. So I can’t give an answer, plus we are assuming it would be unimportant as we are “real people” and take what comes….Vince

The reason I ask is that we wont be open until 11am, unless we know in advance, of course. The idea of a ride down the Putty and back for lunch would good for us, but, if you knew numbers closer to the day and you wanted morning tea about 10.30ish, we would accommodate.

We'll stay in touch.

Cheers
Paul Burgess

Edit: And a follow up from Paul:
Just as idea to put out there. For example, tomorrow (Sun) we have a booking for 25 people and we are doing a great Sunday roast lunch with a dessert for $20 pp. if that interests the crew....? All we need are numbers by the Thursday before the Sunday. Otherwise, order from the normal menu ranging from $12 to $24 per meal.

which, if the second comment here http://www.mypubs.com.au/pub.php/NSW/BULGA/The%20Cockfighter%20Creek%20Tavern/3228 is true, can only be a good thing!

Cheryl knows the new proprietors and is sure they will run a good pub. The August ride has been scheduled to go check it out, let's hope it isn't raining! I also recently received the following invite from the new owner who has taken the trouble to find us and join our forum:

G'Day Vince,

thanks for the AGM invite. Unfortunately, I have the pub to run and I don't ride a motor cycle, but, I hope you guy's and girl's can come up for lunch one weekend for your ride to the Cock Fighter Creek tavern @ Bulga.

Cheers
Paul Burgess

Cockfighter Creek Tavern Bulga - Invitation / Ride destination
« Reply #1 on: 07 Sep 2007, 09:04 AM »
We rec'd the following invitation. At the very least we should work this into the monthly ride calendar. But it sounds like a great excuse for an impromptu ride anyway:

My name is Janine Dunn, My self and husband Brad have just taken over a small tavern called the COCKFIGHTER CREEK TAVERN in the township of Bulga NSW it is approximately 30km’s out of Singleton or about 140km’s from Windsor on the Putty Rd.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite you and the club if you're ever driving the Putty Rd to stop in and enjoy some excellent country atmosphere and country cooking.

We have a grassed area situated across the road from us that is approx 2 acres in size and is graveled under the grass so there is no chance of getting bogged or stuck.

This following offer is strictly for car and motorbike clubs of NSW and we are hoping you will take us up on it.

We can offer members of your club either one of the following meals and either a schooner of beer or soft drink for the low price of $13.00. and for each $10 spent we will donate $1.00 from each to a charity or a club of your choice, so not only will you get a great days driving or riding you will also walk away feeling full and refreshed you will also be either helping a charity or putting money towards either you club trophies or a special event for later in the year.

If you are interested in visiting us please do not hesitate in contacting us on either 02 6574 5282 or by email at bradandjanine@bigpond.com

We hope to see you soon.

Thanks for taking time to read this.

Mrs. Janine Dunn
