  • Gotta enjoy the ups in life, let's go for a ride!
    • Hunter Ducati Owners Group Inc
Our first Ulysses AGM. Making sure we get a good ride, plus have already booked in a glider joy flight, 1pm on Fri 11/05/18 at www.waikerieglidingclub.com.au. Turning up for 'the main Partéy' Thurs - Sat, and spending the rest of the time riding some great roads - especially looking forward to the Bonang and Adelaide Hills as have fond memories of previous trips over them.

Attached below is a Garmin MapSource file of the routes, followed by an 'invitation' overall route picture, and then Day maps of all the routes so you can input to your own non-Garmin system. The Garmin file has only key way-points, and routes, so nothing personal in there; help yourself! All roads checked for absence of dirt, except the Bonang Hwy with optional by-pass. Just booked in all accommodation yesterday and for most (all?) I was the first guest for the day, which was a surprise. If you are booking I would suggest book Bordertown first, then Temora then Oberon as these are the ones most likely to fill up, and you may make minor adjustments to plans when you know what is doable. All towns have alternate accommodation, I just haven't listed their details, or just use the tent!

It is a fairly big ride, and who knows how many will join in, but any qty from 0 to 'the merrier' is fine by us! Love to have you along if you are up for it. Needs one person per bike to be a Ulysses club member. Event details are here: https://agm2018.ulyssesclub.org/

If interested, get to Oberon Sat night and we can take it from there. Or join in at Wisemans Ferry for lunch, or maybe the nominated earlier pickup points on the route, being Morriset McDonalds and Mangrove Mountain.

All you need is a bike with a bit of clearance and an ability to motor along comfortably at the speed limits and you will have a good time. Any ‘fast guys’ will wait on turns – yep ALL will, it works very well in smaller groups. For bigger groups, this effectively becomes ‘corner marshaling in bunches’, and nobody is ever unhappy about it. People can ride at their own speed without feeling pressured. Within reason of course; if there is a total dodderer along that can’t ride the speed limits easily enough we will sort something out. I typically lead, but am not fussed about if I do or not. Anyone is welcome to go ahead if they like. I have a cb hard mounted, which helps if others have them, but not essential at all and I rarely use it, except maybe on Ducati Turismos.

Here is the basic route plan; no state has school holidays in this period, so watch those 40km/hr zones:

Pre-book for http://www.sovereignhill.com.au/sound-light-show/show-times-prices/ - you won’t be disappointed, starts 5:30pm / 6:45pm early / late dinner & show; we did ‘Governors Class’ last year and it was a worthwhile upgrade.

The second 'B' in B&B is only continental breakfast, so don't go expecting more! PLEASE do decent maintenance before you go as you can’t count on much more than a lift to the next town if you break down, and we’ll see you at the pub if you sort it. Tyres should be good to last the ride to SA as changing them in Renmark will be fine; anywhere else, again, we’ll see you at the pub!

Arrival times depend on good (enough) weather and no stuff-ups along the way. Totally doable, and is my normal experience – with a great time to be had by all. So, who’s in? Let me know: vince at hunterdog.org.au
